Updating our Kitchen

Recently we replaced the white stove & microwave for stainless steel appliances. Our new fridge is on it's way and I can't wait! This week I'm working on painting the walls. I'm using Clark & Kensington's Baby Elephant, found at Ace Hardware. Here's a sneak peek of one wall:

Other upcoming projects in our kitchen include:
  • change out the valance for something burlap (because that's my latest obsession. haha)
  • new countertops- I've pinned some inexpensive, DIY countertop projects that I'm going to look into. Pinterest here I come!
  • paint cupboards white- I'm pretty sure this will change the whole look dramatically. This is one project I'm really looking forward to!
Check out this post for other "before" pics of our kitchen. Stay tuned for"after" pics! :)

So I settled on this...

...instead of a tattoo and I must say, I LOVE IT! It's so much less-permanent. The outside of the bracelet is the lattitude & longitude of where Mike & I got married and I had my two babies (Lewiston, Id). The inside is our initials with 7-7-07, 4-1-09 & 10-15-10.

I found it here. If you haven't subscribed to GroopDealz yet you need to!

Window Dressings Complete!

We My wonderful husband hung up all the flower boxes this afternoon (well, I'm still missing one but should have it by the middle of next week). I can't wait to fill these puppies with dirt and plant some more flowers. I think I'm going to do all RED wave petunia's with white flowers (hanging down).
Eeeeek...I can't wait!

So, since this was my mother's day present I guess I should say...Happy Mother's Day to me!!! and to all you other mothers out there. Have a blessed day tomorrow!

Simple wall decoration

Inspired by Pinterest and this blog post, I decided to take my vinyl wall decal to another level. This was a really simple project! Here's how I did it:
Step 1. Applied this cute vinyl wall decal to some boards we my wonderful, compliant husband screwed together.
Step 2. Painted the whole thing brown. (helpful hint: make sure you choose a darker color than the wood)
Step 3. After the paint dried I carefully peeled the stickers off.
Viola! The finished product :)

Beautfiul Sunsets

The sunset was so pretty tonight so I quickly grabbed my camera and took a shot of the barn outside our back window. This picture is SOOC (straight out of camera). The sun was shining on it just perfectly!

Inexpensive DIY shutters

So happy with our latest project. It was super easy and the best part is that it cost less than $100 for all 14 shutters!

Here's how:
1. Measured all the windows from top to bottom
2. Went to the hardware store and bought 1 x 6 boards
3. Cut 4 boards to size & 2 boards across (one on top, one on bottom)
4. Screwed together
5. Painted with flat black exterior paint and hung up!

Re-purposed crib

Easy peasy pinterest-inspired project I'm telling ya! and cheap. Total cost was less than $30.00 (approx $4 for the can of chalkboard paint and 3 chairs at a local thrift store for $7/each). The boys are getting so much use out of it. I'm really glad I did it! :)
